Correct 10 oz. Weight tabby weave cotton canvas per the orignal carried by Corpl. Heywood. (Regs. Call for lighter 8 oz.) | |
All buttonholes and eyelets (grommets) are hand sewn with a heavy waxed cotton thread. | |
Buttons are correct paper-backed tin, 23 in all, sewn on with the correct "x" stitch. | |
Tent loops and 6'10" guyline are correct actual light hemp twine per the original. | |
Reinforcement pieces are heavier than the tent material. (4" square at corners; 4"x3" at center bottom.) | |
Tent sewn on antique Singer treadle machine using common cotton thread lockstitched at correct 1/8" stitch length. Selvage front and back edges per specs; top and bottom edges are stitched, center seam is flat felled. | |
Issued non-waterproofed as orignals. Feel free to play with raw linseed oil, wax or Thompson's Water Seal. Shelter will not turb back a heavy rain unless treated. | |
An unlimited number of these can be buttoned together to form shebanks. A common number were four or six. | |
